5 New Year’s Resolutions that Will Change Your Life

The start of every year brings a slew of New Year’s resolutions. While the typical resolutions of losing weight, saving money and getting organized are all good aspirations, there are others worth considering that can be just as impactful on your life – if not more. Read on to learn more about the five New Year’s resolutions that will change your life for the better.

1. Nurture long distance friendships.
When you no longer live in the same city as a friend, it’s easy to lose touch. Pick a friend that lives far away and make a point to reach out to them at least a couple times a month to catch up. When possible, find a time to go visit or have them come visit you.

2. Call one family member each week.

Your family members are some of the most important people in your life, yet all too often weeks and even months slip by without a conversation. Set aside time once a week to call a parent, grandparent, sibling, cousin, aunt or uncle to maintain these important relationships.

3. Commit to less waste.

Committing to producing less waste is one of the simplest ways to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle. Participate in recycling programs, donate unwanted items instead of throwing them away and always save leftover food for another meal. We know you probably don’t have leftovers after a visit to your local Lee’s, but just in case, here are a few recipes for new dishes you can make with some of your leftovers.

4. Rekindle your love for an old hobby.
Life can get in the way of making time for your favorite hobbies – but only if you let it. Whether you knit, paint, dance, run, travel, golf, hunt or fish, it’s important you regularly experience the joy of doing activities you love. Even if you don’t have much spare time, try to enjoy your hobby at least once a month.

5. Have at least one family dinner a week.

Busy schedules can keep us from truly engaging with the most important people in our lives – even the ones we live with. Set aside a couple hours each week to enjoy a sit-down meal with your immediate family, engage on a deeper level and stay up-to-date on each other’s lives. Regular family meals can even play a powerful role in helping kids make better grades, have a higher self-esteem, avoid drug or alcohol abuse problems and avoid depression.

By picking one of the resolutions above you can be on your way to making 2020 your best year yet – and if you picked number five, Lee’s is ready to help. By driving through your local Lee’s, you can get a hot, homestyle meal on the table in minutes while focusing on the most important part of the evening, spending time with your family. Find a Lee’s near you.
