Five Desserts You Need To Make This Summer

Lazy summer afternoons were made for settling in with a dessert and an ice-cold tea or lemonade. Next time you want a sweet treat, satisfy your craving with one of these five delicious recipes.

Sweet Tea Pie

Enjoy all the refreshing flavor of sweet tea in a cool, comforting slice of pie with this recipe adapted from Delish.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons white cornmeal
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted and browned
  • 1/4 cup Lee's sweet tea
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • 4 Eggs, beaten
  • 1 refrigerated pie crust (9-inch)
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting

Directions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, cornmeal, flour, salt, butter, Lee’s sweet tea, vinegar and vanilla extract in a large mixing bowl. Whisk in eggs and lemon zest until the mixture is combined. Pour the filling into the pie crust, then place the pie on a baking sheet. Bake for 50-55 minutes, until the middle is solid and cooked through. After baking, let the pie cool for two hours, then dust with powdered sugar and serve.

Strawberry Shortcake

Take classic strawberry shortcake to a new level by using Lee’s biscuits.

Ingredients

  • 1 pint strawberries, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Lee’s biscuits
  • 1 can whipped cream

Directions

Dust sugar over sliced strawberries and toss to combine. Cut Lee’s biscuits in half and place bottom halves on four individual plates. Top each with a layer of whipped cream, a layer of strawberries and another layer of whipped cream. Replace the biscuit tops and add a dollop of whipped cream and strawberries to garnish. Serve immediately.

Fried Apple Pie Sundae

Whipping up this creamy, all-American dessert is easy as pie.

Ingredients

  • 1 pint vanilla ice cream
  • 1 Lee’s Apple Turnover, chopped
  • 1 can whipped cream
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • Caramel sauce

Directions

Place a scoop of ice cream into a bowl. Top with the chopped apple turnover and whipped cream. Garnish with a dusting of cinnamon and a drizzle of caramel sauce.

Cinnamon Biscuits

Enjoy a savory snack without making a mess in the kitchen with this simple recipe.

Ingredients

  • Lee’s biscuits
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

Directions

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Place Lee’s biscuits on a baking sheet, then brush with melted butter. In a small bowl, combine the cinnamon and sugar; sprinkle over the biscuits. Bake in the oven for 3 minutes. Serve hot.

Mint Lemonade Popsicles

Ingredients

  • Mint leaves
  • 1 gallon Lee’s Lemonade

Directions

Place one or two mint leaves in each individual popsicle mold. Pour lemonade over the leaves and place in freezer. Add popsicle sticks when firm but not frozen completely; freeze until hard.
